Dad was a happy and funny man, always cracking jokes and making you laugh his sense of humour was
second to none and we love him dearly.
James started his working life at just 14 working in the pits such as marley hill and wardley this
is where he was effectionately known as Joe. after being made redundant he became builder's labour
both locally and in stoke on trent.after leaving the building trade he joined the NCB as a shunter
until his retirement.
When his grand-daughter sharna died in march 2000 it seemed to be the end of his world. Sharna was
the apple of his eye,his little princess was gone laughter and sunshine gone,all he wished was they
had taken him instead of her as he had lived his life and she had not he did not think this was
fare.
So many little things every day remind me of Dad (Joe)whenever I pass the betting shop when he used
to send me to put his bets on or collecting his winnings watching his favourite films or finding one
of books.

Hi Grandad. Just thought i would say hi and tht i miss you very much. I have been through soo much last year and i have felt really down. But i got through it because i am strong just lyk my mam who i know misses you very much. Well i am busy looking for a job at the minute as i was made redundant when Woolworths in gateshead shut. Well i will write to you soon to let you know how am getting on ok.
